President Muhammadu Buhari on Friday
granted audience to former President
Olusegun Obasanjo inside the Presidential
Villa, Abuja.
Obasanjo, decked in white agbada, arrived
for the meeting which was held inside the
President’s office at about 12.30pm.
He was accompanied on the visit by one
of his close allies, Otunba Johnson
Fasawe.
The meeting between the two leaders
lasted about an hour.
Obasanjo did not speak with State House
correspondents at the end of the meeting.
But a source told our correspondent that
the meeting centred on the outcome of
Obasanjo’s recent international
engagements.
Specifically, the source said the former
President used the opportunity of the
meeting to formally brief Buhari on the
report of the Eminent Persons Group he
presented to the African, Caribbean and
Pacific Group of States Summit of Heads
of States which ended in Papua, New
Guinea on Wednesday.
Vice-President Yemi Osinbajo who
represented Buhari at that summit had
commended Obasanjo over the report.
Osinbajo had also met with the President
earlier in the day.
