Attack On NNPC Gas Pipeline: Niger Delta Avengers Claims Responsibility

The Niger Delta Avengers (NDA) militant group on Tuesday claimed responsibility for an attack on a gas pipeline belonging to the state-run oil company in southern Nigeria. "At 11:30pm on Sunday, the NDA blew up Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) gas pipeline at Nsit-Ibom," in Akwa Ibom state, the group said in a terse statement. NNPC officials were not immediately available for comment, but the attack is bound to worsen gas supplies to power plants in a country reeling from daily outages. The Avengers have claimed a string of devastating attacks against the NNPC as well as oil majors Shell, Chevron, Exxon and Eni since February. The attacks have reduced output at a time when Nigeria is struggling with low global crude prices which have hammered government revenues, weakening the country's naira currency and pushing up inflation to near 11-year highs. The rebels want oil majors to leave the Niger delta, blaming them for contributing to

A call for decency in National Assembly

The faceoff between Senator Oluremi Tinubu and Senator Dino Melaye again exposed the underbelly of Nigeria’s upper legislative chamber as one lacking in internal cohesion. Both senators belong to the ruling All Progressives Congress APC. Tinubu represents Lagos Central, while Melaye is of Kogi West. At an executive session of the Senate, the two lawmakers engaged in a verbal altercation over the alleged forgery of the Senate’s Standing Rules. Angry outbursts between them degenerated into threats, both on the floor of the hallowed chamber and beyond. Senator Tinubu later wrote a petition to the Inspector General of Police, seeking protection over alleged threat to life. She equally reported the incident to the Senate President, Senator Bukola Saraki. Senator Melaye vowed not to apologise to the Tinubu’s, particularly Asiwaju Bola Tinubu who took umbrage at the vituperation against his wife. This episode predictably caused quite a stir in the public sphere, with gro

How to Make Coconut Oil in Your Home

You will need: 1. A blender for blending the coconuts. My blender has 850W power and it can blend pieces of coconut very well. I have also used a 600W blender in the past with great results. A blunt object for breaking the coconut: a hammer or small axe will do. 4. Original stainless steel pot for cooking the coconut till the oil seeps out. Buhari is a biased president, evidences abound against Fasola, Amaechi, others – Lagos PDP

The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State has rubbished claim by President Muhammadu Buhari that there is no evidence of corruption against his appointees. Lagos PDP, in a statement on Sunday by its publicity secretary, Taofiq Gani, accused Buhari of shielding his “corrupt” ministers because of their financial contributions to his election. Calling names of those who have serious allegations, the statement noted that, “These are in the public glare and we are surprised that the president exhibits volte-face on these matters. “For instance, Fashola has many corruption petitions against him during and after his tenure as governor of Lagos State. “Groups such as True Face of Lagos, CACOL and individuals have their petitions unattended to by the authorities,” he said. “The reported outcome of enquiry, which indicted Rotimi Amaechi, of unaccounted sum of N3 trillion, when he was governor of Rivers State, is lying unattended to by the authorities and Chris Ngi

Uzoma later led him to believe he had some special seeds which were grown only in Nigeria, with benefits including a cure for cough and AIDS. Uzoma also led him to believe there was lots of profit to be made from selling the cure for AIDS. Uzoma sold 400gram packets to him at N400,000 each, which is obtainable at just N4,400 per kg in Nigeria. NFF begs Nigerian to forgive Flying Eagles

THE Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) Vice President, Seyi Akinwunmi has appealed to Nigerian football fans to forgive the Flying Eagles for falling to reach the CAF U-20 Nations Cup billed for next year in Zambia. The Emmanuel Amuneke tutored side bungled their chances of qualifying for the competition when they lost at home in Lagos to Sudan on Saturday. The Flying Eagles won the first leg 2 – 1 in far away Omdurman, but surprisingly fell 3-4 at home in Lagos. The Sudanese went through on the away goals rule with aggregate scores standing at 5-5. The implication for Nigeria is that Emmanuel Amuneke and his wards that graduated from the U-17 side that conquered the world in 2015, will not have a chance to play at the Fifa U20 World Cup, since Africa’s representatives will emerge in Zambia. Akinwunmi acknowledged that the loss was a painful one but was quick to implore Nigerians to understand that the team is a work in progress. “We are very upset, not only b

Votes no longer count under Buhari, says Fayose

The Governor of Ekiti State, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, has accused the Independent National Electoral Commission of failing to conduct credible and conclusive elections under President Muhammadu Buhari. “Democracy in Nigeria is being threatened by INEC and this should call for national and international reflection,” the governor said in reaction to the alleged manipulation of the Imo North Senatorial election, which was declared inconclusive. The Special Assistant to the governor on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka, quoted the governor as saying that the current approach to the conduct of elections was a call to anarchy. He said, “If we have done more than 15 elections since President Buhari assumed office and all ended inconclusive, it is obvious that we are tending towards anarchy. “It is becoming very clear that votes of Nigerians are no longer allowed to count under this APC government and one wonders if President Buhari would have been elected

Muslims will retaliate if attacked – Sharia Council

The Supreme Council for Sharia in Nigeria (SCSN) has warned that Muslims have the right to protect themselves in Nigeria and cautions against attacking Muslims anywhere in the country. Reacting to the clarion call of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for Christians to defend themselves over the incessant attacks on its faithful, the secretary of the Sharia Council, Malam AbdurRahman Hassan, described the call as unfortunate, even as the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Saad Abubakar III, urged calm, pointing out that Muslims are not supposed to force their religion on other faiths. In a text message sent to our correspondent, the SCSN scribe noted, “It is unbecoming of the so called clergy men to give such unguarded instructions.’’ He noted that the CAN directive will not augur well for anybody in the country, “not even the agitators.’’ Malam AbdurRahman maintained that, “Despite the fact that Islam is a peaceful religion, should anyone attack any Muslim anywher

Came in as a World Cup winner, an European champions and one of the best midfielders of his generation but there is a general feeling that Manchester United bought him two years late. Sure the former Bayern Munich man showed his quality in flashes but injuries disappointed his rhythm and his transfer looks like money wasted as United look likely to miss out on top four places. The midfielder’s knees have sold him out while the sideways possession tactics of Van Gaal did not help his course. Finally Jose Mourinho is set to sign Paul Pogba from Juventus , and his arrival will edge Schweinsteiger closer to the exit door.

READ Seed of Destiny (Sunday, 24 July 2016): PROPHETIC IMPARTATION

OVERVIEW SCRIPTURE: Now when they saw the boldness of Peter and John, and perceived that they were unlearned and ignorant men, they marvelled; and they took knowledge of them, that they had been with Jesus. – Acts 4:13 THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: A man without a pastor is a man without a pasture and a man without a prophet is a man without profit. Prophetic impartation is the transfer of spiritual virtues from the vessel of higher concentration to the vessel of lower concentration through the administration of the power, principles and the presence of God without diminution or reduction in the quality and quantity of the former. Genuine pastors, spiritual fathers and prophets are the channels of Divine prophetic impartation. That is why a man without a pastor is a man without a pasture; a man without a father is a man without a ladder; a man without a prophet is a man without profit. So, a genuine man of God has the capacity to pull out greatness that has hitherto been locked up or that

READ: Understanding The Unlimited Power Of Faith: Inspirational Article By Bishop David Oyedepo

From scriptures, we discover that faith is one of the principal mysteries of the Kingdom. This is because as far as God is concerned, faith is key to accessing all that He has in store for us in His Kingdom. That is why Jesus said: …If thou canst believe, all things are possible to him that believeth (Mark 9:23; see also 1 Timothy 3:9). Also, when Martha told Jesus that Lazarus was already dead for four days and was stinking, He replied: …Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God? (John 11:39-40). Thereafter, Jesus called Lazarus out of the grave and he that was dead, came alive. That means, faith was the principal force that brought Lazarus back to life. Thus, resident in the Mystery of Faith is a dynamo that has the capacity to turn any negative situation around and deliver our desired results. “Mystery” in this context connotes Kingdom secrets imbedded in scriptures. It can also be defined as divine revelations fr

5 things you should not tell your girlfriend during an argument

1. Calm down/relax/take it easy now If you like your life, never say these words to her. The truth may be that is she is not calm or relaxed but she already knows this and you will not get any boyfriend points for mentioning it to her. By telling her to relax, you are telling her she is out of control instead of showing her you are listening to what she is saying. 2. Are you mad/crazy/out of your senses? Your girlfriend might be shouting at you and saying harsh words but you should not do the same. Two wrongs do not make a right. If you see she is riled up, then wait until she is calm before you express that what she said earlier hurt your feelings. Do not shout back or challenge her verbally because neither of you will be communicating, you will only be fueling the argument. 3. So…are we going to have make-up sex after? Unless you and your girlfriend know each other well and this is a routine with you, please do not ask it during a fight. Fighting is not a
