Mrs Saraki, the founder and president of the Wellbeing Foundation Africa (WBFA), made the advocacy in a keynote address she delivered at the Cambridge-Africa day hosted by the University of Cambridge, Emmanuel College, United Kingdom. The child is not a Boko Haram Child,” the source reportedly said. “None of the girls released was sexually harassed or abused while in captivity by their abductors. “The current state of the girls is a source of joy as they are receiving the best medical, psychological and other forms of support from the authorities as directed by the federal government. “All groups including the families, The Bring Back Our Girls (BBOG) and Chibok Community are happy with their condition as medical experts work to address their health conditions

New Horizons' Last Bit Of Pluto Data Reaches Earth

The last bits of science data from New Horizons' Pluto flyby - stored on the spacecraft's digital recorders since July 2015 - arrived safely on Earth this week, NASA said. The final item - a segment of a Pluto-Charon observation sequence taken by the Ralph/LEISA imager - from New Horizons spacecraft travelled over 5.5 billion kilometres to reach earth, the US space agency said in a statement on Thursday. The downlink came via NASA's Deep Space Network station in Canberra, Australia. It was the last of the 50-plus total gigabits of Pluto system data transmitted to Earth by New Horizons over the past 15 months. "We have our pot of gold," said Mission Operations Manager Alice Bowman of Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, Maryland. "There's a great deal of work ahead for us to understand the 400-plus scientific observations that have all been sent to Earth. And that's exactly what we're going to do-after all, who knows

This woman chained her daughter to a street lamp post for playing truant from school. The eight-year-old child was tied with a metal chain around her ankle and tied to a large metal post. The young girl was left there by her raging mother. Good Samaritans heard the girl crying in the car park outside the family's apartment on Wednesday afternoon. They tried freeing her but the thick chain was strongly secured with two padlocks - leaving the girl stuck for over an hour before arrival of the police. According to the committee, a strategic framework would soon be set up by President Muhammadu Buhari in line with his determination to rebuild the North-East. The Vice-Chairman of the PCNI, Alhaji Tijani Tumsah, made this statement on Thursday in Abuja, while briefing newsmen on the outcome of its inaugural meeting. According to Tumsah, "the focus of the meeting was to discuss the mandate given to the PCNI to fashion out a way that would be most direct, in terms of the delivery of that mandate, analyse the enormity of the task and fulfil the presidential mandate to give succour to the people of the North-East." He said, “We are not investigating anybody; there are people who are investigating such diversions. I’m glad you mentioned the Senate,

NLG appeal to the Federal Government for the increment of minimum wage

The President of National Labour Congress, NLC, Mr. Ayuba Wabba, yesterday, urged President Muhammadu Buhari to increase minimum wages from N18, 000, saying “this is the logic used by United State to address recession.” Wabba made the appeal in an interview with Vanguard after presenting a N400, 000 Cheque to wife of late Vanguard deputy photo-editor, Mr. Tunji Oyeleru at the Airport Hotel, Ikeja when he argued that the economy cannot return to its former state unless the citizens have purchasing power. He said “The state of the country’s economy requires that we increase minimum wage. We need to empower the people to buy and sell. If the economy is at standstill and people cannot buy, the economy will not grow. “It is the workers money that keeps the economy growing. It is not the fund disbursed for big contracts that are kept in different accounts that keeps the country economy growing. That was the logic that helped the United State to revive their economy,” he added.
