PHOTOS: Nigerian Airforce acquire equipment to defend themselves

– The Nigerian Airforce (NAF) has made a
critical move to reinforce its base defence
and protection of its assets
– The move is part of efforts towards coping
with the dynamism of emerging security
threats
– NAF is adopting a new concept of base
defence to protect its air assets and critical
installations
The Nigerian Airforce has adopted a modern
and effective way to reinforce its base
defence and assets protection.
Aside reorganizing, retraining and re-
equipping the regiment specialty to
effectively defend NAF Bases against
attacks, the Airforce has also employed the
use of Closed Circuit Camera to provide
surveillance around perimeter fences of NAF
Bases while monitoring the entire Base from
the Base Defence Coordination Centre.
Effort is geared towards expanding the
regiment specialty to be able to take over all
ground defence duties with a view to
securing NAF Bases and critical assets.
The recent acquisition of 10 specialised
Honker Scorpion Vehicles is geared towards
responding quickly to security breaches. The evehicles possess armoured capability thus
offering additional level of protection to
guards.

Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General
Abayomi Olonisakin stated that the induction
of the Honker vehicles will enhance the
capability of NAF Regiment personnel to
effectively contribute to the collective
efforts at addressing the security challenges
facing the nation.

Speaking at the commissioning ceremony,
Olonisakin said: “the procurement was a
testimony of the importance the NAF attached
to the protection of its critical assets and
personnel”.

On his part, the Chief of the Air Staff (CAS),
Air Marshal Sadique Baba Abubakar has
reiterated that the Airforce cannot afford to
lose its critical assets to the activities of
insurgents, terrorists and militants.

Herbalist kills 13-year-old boy in juju experiment

A 26-year-old herbalist, Ekene Oluka, allegedly killed a 13-year-old, Obumuneme Oluka, while testing his anti-bullet charm on the deceased at Amagu-Uwani, Mgboko, Aku of Igbo-Etiti Local Government Area, Enugu State. It was reported that the herbalist fled after the incident. The herbalist had, at different occasions, successfully tested his charms, which was said to protect against bullets and cutlass, on the young man. Confirming the incident, Police Public Relations Officer in the state, Ebere Amaraizu, in a statement said the command had activated a manhunt for the fleeing herbalist. Barcelona confirm Lionel Messi’ s injury

Barcelona has confirmed that Lionel Messi is out with a persistent groin injury. The La Liga champions had noted the injury, before Messi made his return to international football with Argentina, in a 2018 World Cup qualifying match against Uruguay last week.
