An NYPD sergeant shot and killed a 66-year-old emotionally disturbed woman who came at him with a baseball bat in the Bronx on Tuesday, and now cops say they’re looking into why the officer used his gun instead of his stun gun.
“The sergeant was armed with a Taser. It was not deployed and the reason it was not deployed will be part of the investigation and review,” Asst. Chief Larry Nikunen, the commanding officer of Patrol Borough Bronx explained after the Tuesday night shooting.
Cops arrived at the seventh-floor apartment on Pugsley Ave. near Seward Ave. in Castle Hill in response to a call about a woman acting irrationally, Nikunen said.
Police had responded to similar calls at that apartment, and at about 6:10 p.m., they encountered the 66-year-old woman in a nightgown with scissors in her hand, cops said.
