 The Senate, on Tuesday , urged President Muhammadu Buhari to issue a proclamation for holding of a population and housing census in 2018 and also release adequate funds for the conduct of the exercise. Hunkuyi, noted that the delay in the issuance of a proclamation by President Buhari and the poor release of funds to the National Population Commission (NPC), were major setbacks. “It is only pertinent that subsequent population census should be carried out within an adequate timing and an objective of conducting an acceptable exercise. “Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), the NPC, Ministry of Budget and National Planning and any supervising agencies must make adequate provision in the 2018 budget as a critical prerequisite to achieving the 2017/2018 population census,” he added. click  here to read more  

After the release of a lecturer of the university, Dr. Reginald Ohiri of the Department of Biochemistry six days ago, gunmen have again abducted another lecturer, Prof. John Okoli. Okoli was kidnapped at the close of work yesterday and taken to an unknown destination. Spokesman of the institution, Dr. William Wodi confirmed the abduction, describing the development as frightening. Wodi said the situation has become worrisome, adding that it has affected academic activities in the institution. He appealed to the kidnappers to free the lecturer unconditionally, urging government and security agencies to beef up security in the school.

Accorsing to this Facebook user Ene Okpani, a man from Tiv tribe in Benue state attacked her because he thought she was laughing at him while he was on a motorcycle. On her facebook wall, she wrote: "Yes dis is what a tiv guy did to me today, saying I was laughing in d car, while he was on a motorcycle dat he must kill me, he will tell me dat Mkd is his town. Well d police in zone 4 had taken charge of d case. To God be d glory".
