Sony Music Entertainment has announced an exclusive deal with YCEE, yesterday in South Africa. The deal will also involve the rapper's first E.P, ‘The First Wave’ released under the Sony umbrella. With this move, Ycee joins the likes of Nigerian superstar Davido, as part of the Sony Music family. Michael Ugwu, General Manager, Sony Music West Africa said that “I’m extremely proud to welcome Tinny Entertainment and the amazing talent that is Ycee to the Sony Music Entertainment West Africa family. I’ve watched this team grow over the past few years and I am amazed at how they have navigated the industry to reach this stage. Ycee is the future of Hip Hop in Africa and will be front” Displaying his enthusiasm at the deal, Ycee posted on Instagram “Great things happening, alongside Tinny Entertainment, I’m so proud to become part of the Sony Music family!” See his posts on instagram about the new deal;

The awards which was held today took place at the TicketPro Dome and was hosted by South African radio personality, Bonang Matheba alongside Yemi Alade and South African actress, Nomzamo Mbatha. Other notable faces at the press conference include Senior Vice President, Viacom Africa, Alex Okosi, Noble Igwe, Gbemi Olateru-Olagbegi, Omalicha, Bolanle Olukanni, Steve Babaeko, Ehiz, Olorisupergal among many others. Ycee was recently spotted at Shoprite in Festac, Lagos. Actually, that was his first day on the job and he was working the counter like a pro. See his twitter post about the job below; “So I resumed work today and the manager has already commended my customer friendly skills! Feeling like employee of the month already. Hope your day wasn’t so stressful – have a good night #TFW #MAMAVOTE #BESTBREAKTHROUGHACT #YCEE,” he captioned it. Well, on the plus side, if the music thing doesn’t work out, he can always work as a customer care attendant.
